Unlike Kanye West, Nas managed to deliver his latest album on time with King’s Disease II. Now, he’s being rewarded with his best first-week position on the chart in nearly a decade.

According to Billboard, the thirteenth studio effort from the Queensbridge legend lands at No. 3 on Billboard 200 chart with over 56,000 total album-equivalent units earned. The Top 3 position is an improvement over the original King’s Disease, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart with roughly 47,000 total album-equivalent units earned.

It’s Nas’ highest charting album since 2012’s Life Is Good, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with roughly 149,000 copies sold.

King’s Disease II also marks Nas’ fifteenth Top 10 debut, 25 years after his first. His sophomore effort, It Was Written, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, his first of six chart toppers.

Packing features from the likes of lead producer Hit-Boy, Eminem, 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Blxst and more, the album features a remix to the King’s Disease track “EPMD” appropriately called “EPMD 2” featuring Erick Sermon, Parish Smith and Eminem.

“This was Hip Hop doing a full 360 and heading back to the golden era,” Smith  told HipHopDX of the collaboration. “With Nas, the connection with my grandfather being from Queens and Nas being from Queens, I used to be, and still am, a big fan of Main Source, the original foundation where Nas actually started.

“When Nas paid homage to EPMD on the first ‘EPMD,’ it was only right for Erick and I to get on the track and show love as well. Once Nas dropped the song, it got so big that it created a vibe that cut through everything, like, ‘Yeah, you know, I can hear EPMD doing the song with Nas.’ Then through the communication between both camps, we were able to get it done.”
