#Mysterious Disappearances, You Are Ms. Servant & More Celebrate Maid Day on May 10

Following the unique Japanese holidays of Confession Day and Goku Day, May 10 in Japan is unofficially recognized as Maid Day. The special occasion honoring those in frilly maid uniforms is based on a pun that stems from the Japanese pronunciation of the date as “mei-do.” 

Japanese anime, manga, light novels, and video games have all featured maids in a wide variety of roles and characteristics. Naturally, a few anime series, creators, and entertainers paid tribute to Maid Day by releasing special visuals. 

Here are some of the highlights of the Maid Day festivities:

You Are Ms. Servant (Kimi wa Meido-sama)

Original You Are Ms. Servant light novel author Shotan shared a new illustration of heroine Yuki to celebrate Maid Day. The illustration features her eating a yakisoba bread under a clothesline. 

Hiro Kanzaki (Oreimo, Eromanga sensei)

Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei light novel illustrator shared three special maid illustrations on his Twitter, with one of them featuring Ayase Aragaki, Kirino Kosaka, and Ruri Goko. 

Ladybeard

Australian pro wrestler and kawaii metal vocalist Ladybeard had some fun on Maid Day as well, giving a haughty response to his master. 

Wakana Uehara 

Japanese pro wrestler and ex-idol Wakana Uehara shared a cosplay photo of herself in a maid costume from seven years ago. Uehara was formerly of the groups Tenko Shojo and Advance Arc Harmony

Kikuko Inoue

Eternal 17-year old Kikuko Inoue posted a photo of herself in a maid costume. It’s safe to say that she rocked the costume really well and hasn’t aged a bit. Her cosplay even impressed fellow voice actor Akio Otsuka, who was simply amazed. 

Maids of England 

London-based pop-up maid and butler café Maids of England celebrated Maid Day with a group photo session and information dance video.
