Story (8/10)

After the big bang at the cultural festival, there is now a school trip to Kyoto, for which Kakeru has very special plans. He wants to confess his love to Hina and asks the helper club for support. But Hina also has an assignment for Hachiman, Yui and Yukino. The three do their best to complete the assignment, but when Hachiman tries again using his usual methods, the club members clash. In the midst of this dispute, a new whirlwind emerges: the enchanting Iroha Isshiki!

Personaly thinking (Warning, spoilers!)

In every good Rom-Com with a school setting, a class trip should of course not be missing – and “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Too!” is no exception here. Still, of course, the anime approaches things its own way. So the viewer often has to read between the lines again, because the series is bursting with paraphrases and statements that leave a lot of room for interpretation. However, you should already know this from the first season.

Specifically, the first episodes are about Yukinos and Hachiman’s fundamentally different approaches to problem solving. The members of the helpers’ club clash. It can quickly happen that you don’t understand why the protagonists are quarreling at all, which can be frustrating at times.

It is all the more important that the otherwise quite serious anime is loosened up with some funnier scenes. The duo Hikigaya – Totsuka, for example, once again offers a lot of comedy material. Of course, Hachiman also has plenty of snappy comments ready for his fellow human beings. The gags are well placed in my eyes and almost always made me laugh.

Overall, “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Too!” however, once again that it’s not an easy anime to turn off. If you want to understand the story and the motivations of the individual characters, you have to follow the episodes carefully. Even after a rewatch, some questions may go unanswered.

Animations (9/10)

In the field of animation, we have seen a big change with the second season: While the studio is still working for the first part Brain’s Base was responsible, took over from now on feel. working on the series. This was accompanied by a complete upheaval in art style – for the better in my eyes.

The animations convinced me from the very first scene. The second season starts with a brief review of the band appearance of Yukino and Yui as part of the school festival from the first season. While playing the instruments at Brain’s Base was animated quite wobbly, flow in feel. the pictures literally into one another. The movements also looked much more natural.

As far as the color scheme is concerned, it is noticeable that the new studio is primarily focusing on color gradients in the hair. I like this stylistic decision a lot. The backgrounds can also convince.

Music (9/10)

With the new season comes new music. The opening “Harumodoki” will be performed by Nagi Yanagi, who already contributed the intro song for the first season. Again, this is a song with a catchy melody and catchy tune potential. At the endings, the singing talents of the Japanese voice actors from Yukino and Yui were once again trusted. They sing the piece “Everyday World.”, In episode 4 also as a Yui solo in a ballad version. I particularly like the piano accompaniment and the half-time feel section of the song.

The background music is the same pieces from the first season. These often strike a thoughtful, sometimes slightly threatening tone and have always been selected to match the situation. And those who listen more closely will be rewarded: both the opening and the ending of the first season have included quieter piano versions as background music.

German localization (9/10)

The German version of “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU” was made at G&G Studios in Kaarst. Tom Sielemann was responsible for the dialogue book, Richard Westerhaus directed the dialogue. This of course means that the well-known constellation from the first season has been preserved.

The same can be said about the speaker cast, which – as expected – can convince again. In my opinion, the newly added characters have also been cast well, such as Luisa Wietzorek on Kaori Orimoto.

As far as the dialogue book is concerned, the many sayings and the choice of words of the young protagonists are particularly striking. Since there is only an age difference of about three years between me and the characters from the series, I can confirm that the youth language was taken quite realistically. Even if some things seemed a bit exaggerated, the interspersing of English terms is commonplace.

Packaging & Extras (9/10)

In terms of packaging, AniMoon maintains the continuity with the first season with a collecting slipcase and mediabook. The workmanship is again of very high quality. Unfortunately, a small downer in my opinion is that the slipcase motif was replaced before the release. The new artwork looks a bit “lost” with the large amount of white background. And the back is just with the words “TOO!” while the first season had a cover motif that encompassed both sides.

But there are positive things to report on the extras: On the one hand, the Pan plush figure is included, which is a replica from the series. In my eyes, this has become very beautiful and actually looks like the anime model. Fortunately, I couldn’t detect any chemical smell or anything like that.

As a further extra, a booklet is glued into the mediabook. The first season was still a kind of sticker booklet, which didn’t convince me at all. So I’m all the more pleased that this time they have incorporated short character descriptions and new (albeit somewhat revealing) artworks instead.

Conclusion

With the new season and the change of studio comes a brand new look. In terms of content, fans can look forward to “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Too!” however, familiar things: vague formulations, non-verbal communication and disputes, the triggers of which are not always clear to the viewer. Those who like more profound and realistic series are well served here. Nonetheless, the anime has some fun sides to it as well.

With regard to the German publication, great praise can be given to AniMoon Publishing. Here we get a high quality release with nice extras. The German dubbing can also convince here.

I’m already looking forward to the further course of the second season. The confusion about the characters’ motivations was still on a similar level to the first season. However, this could change with the further episodes …
