#Mushroom Pup Reveals New Teaser Trailer, Main Cast & Staff

A new teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming Kinokoinu: Mushroom Pup TV anime adaptation, which also revealed the series’ main voice cast, studio, and production staff. The anime will premiere in Japan sometime this Fall 2024.

Two new teaser visuals for the anime have also been released. One visual has the tagline “Where are you from?” while the other has the tagline “Encounter at the Snow Willow Garden.” 

The main voice cast stars Daiki Kobayashi as Kinokoinu (known as Mushroom Pup in English) and Yuto Uemura as Hotaru Yuyami. 

The main production staff includes Kagetoshi Asano as director, Jin Tanaka (OSHI NO KO) as series screenwriter, Daisuke Endo as character designer, and Akiyuki Tateyama (The Elusive Samurai) as music composer. C-Station is in charge of the animation production. 

The manga was written and illustrated by Kimama Aoboshi in Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Ryu magazine from July 17, 2010 to February 28, 2022. A total of 15 tankobon volumes were released during its publication.

Digital Manga Publishing licensed the manga for release in North America, describing the main synopsis as: 

A depressed author… A concerned editor… An eccentric mushroom researcher… And a strange pink mushroom…that turns into a dog?! Put this all together and you get Mushroom Pup.

Mushroom Pup tells a heart-warming tale of the power of friendship, a dog’s love, and the dangers of dwelling on regrets. With the help of his friends and the mysterious Mushroom Pup, Hotaru Yuyami, a grieving picture book author, slowly begins to move forward after the tragic loss of his beloved dog, Hanako. Full of laughs and warm moments, Mushroom Pup is sure to find a place in your heart.
