Motorola just debuted an upgraded version of the $250 Moto G Power, and man, it looks like a great phone for the price. This new model features a 3-day battery life, a 50MP main camera, IP52 dust and water resistance, and to our surprise, a 90Hz display.

I’m not going to pretend that the Moto G Power is an earth-shattering new device. But like the Moto G Pure, it’s one of the only budget phones that avoids stupid trends to focus on stuff that actually matters, like usability, battery life, and camera quality.

To that end, the Moto G Power features a 5,000mAh battery with a 3-day battery life, a fingerprint reader, and a 50MP main camera. It still uses the 8MP selfie camera, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor of its predecessor, and while its 720p 6.5-inch display isn’t full HD, it does pack a 90Hz refresh rate for super smooth scrolling and animations.

There’s also an octa-core MediaTek Helio G37 processor, 4GM of RAM, and 128GB of storage, which is fine for those who just scroll Facebook and watch YouTube videos (but not great for gaming or intensive use). The only major problem I see with this phone is its lack of NFC—you can’t use this puppy for Google Pay or similar contactless payment services.

The Moto G Power launches “in the coming months.” It will begin its rollout at Metro by T-Mobile and Republic Wireless before reaching other carriers. Oh, and for the bargain hunters, Motorola will launch an unlocked 64GB version of the Moto G Power for just $200 in 2022.
