#Moriarty’s Perfect Crime Receives “Light Anime” Adaptation Starting July 19

Animation ID has announced that the Moriarty’s Perfect Crime novel series is receiving a “light anime” adaptation that will begin broadcasting in Japan on July 19, 2024. The adaptation was confirmed in a 30-second teaser PV trailer that features simple animation similar to a motion comic.

Yosuke Kubo (Dahlia in Bloom: Crafting a Fresh Start With Magical Tools) is serving as chief director for the adaptation, with Mikiko Furukawa as director, and Yuichi Imaizumi as sound director. Hiroki Nozaki is handling the sound effects. Imageworks Studio is the main animation production company, with nanogram and Studio KAIBA providing additional production assistance.

The anime’s voice cast will include:

  • • Ryota Suzuki as James Moriarty
  • • Yuri Noguchi as Sherry Moriarty
  • • Kurumi Sakamoto as Porgrette Whey Cochon
  • • Saiko Moriya as Miss Fairlady

The original novel series by Kuromeika began as a story on Shosetsuka ni Naro and Kakuyomu in 2019. It later inspired a Japanese webtoon manga adaptation in February 2023 by YUZU Comics and DNP

Comikey releases the webtoon manga adaptation of Moriarty’s Perfect Crime in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. It describes the main synopsis as:

James Moriarty, the most fearsome criminal, met his demise after a confrontation with a famous detective at a certain waterfall. He found himself possessed by a beautiful young lady from another world, and what he saw there was the insidious abuse by other noble daughters. He has no memory, but his brain is still the same. He wields the power of his lucid mind and the perfect crime equation to the fullest for the sake of only one girl in a world without a great detective. The bullied young lady dies and is reborn as Moriarty, a villainess without blood or tears.
