The production team for Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari has revealed additional voice actors for the Kadomori family. The anime series is scheduled to premiere on January 9, 2023
The additional voice cast includes Saori Oonishi as Tsubaki Kadomori, Nobuaki Kanemitsu as Taiju Kadomori, Shouhei Tabuchi as Shouta Kadomori, and Shinya Takahashi as Umekichi Kadomori. They join a main cast that includes Takeo Ootsuka as protagonist Kunato Hyouma, Yuuki Takada as Botan Nagatsuki, Chikahiro Kobayashi as Nagi, Reina Ueda as Yuu, Aimi Tanaka as Kagami, Yoshiki Nakajima as Suzuri, and Miyuki Sawashiro as Haori.
The production staff consists of Ryuuichi Kimura (Aikatsu Planet! chief director) as director, Takahiro Okawa (Aikatsu Planet! animation storyboarder) as assistant director, Keiichirou Oochi (The Demon Girl Next Door Season 2) as series screenwriter, Shiori Fujisawa (Aikatsu Planet! design works) as main character designer, and Yuuka Shiga (Cestvs: The Roman Fighter co-2D character designer) as sub-character designer.
Other staff members for Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari include Satoko Kimura (Tales of Crestoria: Toga Waga wo Shoite Kare wa Tatsu) as color designer, Youichi Oogami (Hula Fulla Dance, Aikatsu Planet! animation photography director) as photography director, and John Kanda and XELIK as music composers. BN Pictures is in charge of the animation production for the anime.
Onigunsou’s original manga was first launched in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine on April 15, 2014 and is published under the Young Jump Comics label. It was then transferred to Ultra Jump magazine on January 19, 2016 and has released 14 tankoubon volumes as of May 2022.
Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs in Japan next January. It describes the anime as:
Filled with rage against spirits known as tsukumogami, Kunato Hyoma is sent to live with Nagatsuki Botan to help him see a different side. Though both are part of a clan that return the spirits back to their world with divine powers, their experiences with the otherworldly vessels are vastly different.
