“#Momoiro Clover Z Performs Sailor Moon Eternal Film's Theme Song with The Five Main VAs”

The official website for the upcoming two-part film Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie has announced that its theme song "Tsukiiro Chainon" is performed by the four-member Japanese idol group Momoiro Clover Z, along with the anime's five main voice cast members – Kotono Mitsuishi (Sailor Moon), Hisako Kanemoto (Sailor Mercury), Rina Sato (Sailor Mars), Ami Koshimizu (Sailor Jupiter), and Sizuka Ito (Sailor Venus).

This is the second time that the group has performed a theme song for the Sailor Moon anime franchise, following their 12th single songs "MOON PRIDE" and "Gekkou," which were used as the OP and ED themes for the first two seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal in 2014-2015.

Message from Momoiro Clover Z:

"Following Sailor Moon Crystal, we are in charge of singing the theme song for the Sailor Moon Eternal films. This time, not only us, but also the five Sailor Guardians including Sailor Moon will be singing together as "Momoiro Clover Z with Sailor 5 Guardians. We are so happy that such a dreamlike thing has come true. This song has a little more mature feeling, which is different from the cool-girl image of 'MOON PRIDE' that we performed last time. Please check it out in a theater!"

The lyrics of the song were written by Shirobarasumire (the pen name of the Sailor Moon manga author, Naoko Takeuchi), who previously worked on "Gekkou." And the music was composed by Akiko Kosaka, who has provided many songs for the Sailor Moon franchise.

The upcoming films are based on the fourth "Dead Moon" arc of Naoko Takeuchi's original Sailor Moon manga and produced as the fourth arc of the Sailor Moon Crystal web anime series. Its first part is set to be released on January 8, 2021, then its second part will follow on February 11, 2021.
