A California woman has filed a $10 million claim against the LAPD after she was shot in the head with a rubber bullet meant for George Floyd protesters — leaving her with a traumatic brain injury, according to reports.

Single mom Yasmine Morales, 26, was driving to Target to buy a birthday present for her son on May 30 when she stopped at an intersection near a George Floyd rally, her attorney told KCAL9.

While stopped, an officer in a patrol vehicle fired unannounced through her open car window, fracturing her skull and causing a brain bleed that has left her unable to walk without assistance, the attorney, Neama Rahmani, told the station.

“This has dramatically altered the course of her life,” the attorney insisted, calling Morales a “single mom just trying to make it just like the rest of us.”

“Someone innocent like this should not suffer at the hands of law enforcement,” Rahmani told KCAL9.

The officer’s actions were “not tactical police work so much as a drive-by shooting,” Rahmani told the Los Angeles Daily News.

“There’s no defense for that brutality,” he said.

The excessive force claim was filed Monday. Rahmani said he and Morales plan to file a lawsuit once they hear back from the city.

The Los Angeles Police Department told the outlets it “continues to investigate allegations of misconduct, violations of Department policy, and excessive force during the recent civil unrest.”

“The Department has assigned 40 investigators to this effort and we will look into every complaint thoroughly and hold every officer accountable for their actions.”
