#Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- To Add “Special” Footage to Future Screenings

Starting on February 22 JST, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- screenings in Japan will include “special” footage that will come after the main film. This added content is a preview of later parts of the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX story.
It was also announced that the anime, a theatrical re-edit that previews the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series, had grossed 2,532,417,400 yen (~US$16.69 million) and attracted 1,554,772 moviegoers domestically in its first 31 days. It needs a few hundred million more to beat the inflation-adjusted earnings of 1982’s Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (around 3 billion yen, adjusted from 2.3 billion yen) and become the second highest-grossing Mobile Suit Gundam film (the first is 2024’s Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom with 5.38 billion yen)
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- debuted in Japan on January 17 JST and will begin MX4D and 4DX screenings on February 22 JST. It is coming to North America and Southeast Asia starting this month.
The premise of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is described as:
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.
When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.
Now their world is about to enter a new era.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest TV anime in the Gundam franchise, which started with 1979’s Mobile Suit Gundam. The previous Gundam TV anime was 2022 to 2023’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, which introduced the Ad Stella timeline and was the first to have a female protagonist.
