Misa Hylton’s Lawyer Says She’d Drop Mary J. Blige Lawsuit If She Fixes Things With Vado

Misa Hylton is reportedly open to dropping her $5 million lawsuit against longtime friend Mary J. Blige – should Mary make things right with her signed artist, Vado.
As previously reported, Hylton is accusing Mary and her company, Beautiful Life Productions, of derailing Vado’s career and trying to force him to back out of a management deal.
Vado is signed to Mary for music distribution and Misa for management, but the lawsuit alleges that Mary threatened to block him from touring, putting out music and more if he didn’t leave his management deal – and then made good on her threats.
In a new interview with AllHipHop, Misa’s attorney Nicholas Ramcharitar gave some insight on the situation.

“Ms. Hylton did not want this to become a public matter,” he said. “She exhausted every avenue before resorting to the courts. It’s tragic. These women were closer than biological sisters. Misa did everything to keep this private—calls, texts, even letters to Mary’s legal team. But after months of silence and missed obligations, we had no choice but to file. This lawsuit wasn’t Plan A—it was Plan Z.”
He continued: “Last time they were good was on the Amalfi Coast in August. After that—radio silence. No texts, no calls, no invites. Misa chalked it up to Mary being busy, but the pattern continued. Eventually, communication stopped completely.”
He went on to explain that Mary kept Vado off her current tour, despite promising to bring him and that nobody understands why. He also noted that Misa has been “deeply affected” by the ordeal, but that “if Mary steps up, honors the agreement, gets Vado on tour, back in the studio — yeah, that could move the needle. But there’s more to consider: legal fees, lost opportunities, emotional distress.”
According to the suit, Misa and Vado signed their deal in July 2023, which reportedly granted her company 20 percent of the Harlem rapper’s earnings. He then signed a distribution deal for his music in October of that year with Mary’s Beautiful Life Productions.
By July of 2024, he had reportedly finished his album – but Hylton alleges that Mary then threatened to shelve it and block his touring opportunities if he didn’t break his management contract. She also alleges Mary tried to persuade him to break the deal by courting him on private yachts, at exclusive events and more, and that the main reason was because Mary’s security chief (who is also named as her boyfriend in the suit) wanted to manage Vado himself.
Hylton alleges she has evidence in the form of private messages from Mary to Vado and argues that the singer’s actions left Vado in “economic servitude,” unable to earn income or repay advances tied to his recording deal.
She’s seeking $5 million in damages for breach of contract, emotional distress and interference with business relationships, as well as an injunction to prevent further disruption from Blige or her company.
