#Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. fight draws insane PPV numbers

Mike Tyson is still a bankable draw in the boxing world.

The former heavyweight champion’s exhibition draw against Roy Jones Jr. on Nov. 28 generated over $80 million via more than 1.6 million pay-per-view purchases, according to projections released by Tyson’s Legends Only League and the social-networking service Triller, the fight’s distributor.

Triller owner Ryan Kavanaugh told BoxingScene.com that the Tyson-Jones Jr. bout is expected to rank among the top 10 most purchased PPV events of all-time.

The 54-year-old Tyson earned a reported $10 million for his first sanctioned match since an exhibition against Corey Sanders in 2006.

Evander Holyfield, the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ, said last week that an exhibition bout with Tyson – a rematch of their infamous 1997 “Bite Fight” – has been discussed “and it looks like it’s gonna happen” in 2021.

The 51-year-old Jones, a former world champion in four weight classes, reportedly earned $3 million for his eight-round appearance in the ring with Tyson at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
