#Microsoft will split Ignite 2020 into two digital events

Microsoft has announced that their Ignite conference which is company’s annual event for IT profs and devs, will be quite a different from what it is used to be. Like company’s recent events, the conference will be splint into two virtual sessions.

The change is caused by the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis. One part of Ignite 2020 will come in September, from September 22 – 24. The the other is planned for early 2021. Both parts will be free, digital-only 48-hour events.

Registration for the first part will be open on September 3, 2020.

Also, Microsoft is not going to hold Ignite Tour events around the world this year for the same reason.

We’ve learned from the global digital events we’ve held this year that we now have the opportunity to bring the whole global community together in one place to create a truly worldwide event. For this reason, we’re not going to be holding Microsoft Ignite Tour events in different cities around the world this year; instead Microsoft Ignite will bring all global participants together and include the opportunity for local community meetups, will have language localization, and participants will also be able to get skill building with Microsoft Learn and certifications.

So, all of Microsoft’s events will go digital this year, and it looks like the same will be true for the next year too.

Note that the second Ignite event won’t replace Microsoft Build. The Redmond company considers it “as the forum for our developer communities to come together”.
