#Michele Tafoya done with sideline reporting after NFL season

This season is expected to be “Sunday Night Football” reporter Michele Tafoya’s final one on the sidelines, The Post has learned.

Sources said it is Tafoya’s decision to step away from the field. She has been on network TV at CBS, ABC/ESPN and NBC for nearly three decades.

NBC declined comment, while Tafoya could not be immediately reached.

In recent days, Tafoya, 56, has been in the news because she has missed three games, which NBC describes as “bye weeks.”

She was on ABC’s “The View” in early November, where she made headlines when she compared COVID to the flu, saying the “flu kills people.” She also countered the idea that Colin Kapernick was not on an NFL roster because of kneeling for the anthem.

After “The View,” she went on to work the sidelines for the rest of that month until taking off after Thanksgiving and the past two Sundays.

The three games that Tafoya has taken off were not coincidentally bad-weather sites of Baltimore, Seattle and Green Bay. She will also miss Jan. 2 in Green Bay. While SNF is only 18-plus weeks, it has allowed her to be at home on these weekends.

NBC has not decided on Tafoya’s replacement, but Kathryn Tappen is the clear leading candidate. Tappen has been on the sideline when Tafoya has been off.

Next year, Mike Tirico is expected to take over for Al Michaels as the lead play-by-player with analyst Cris Collinsworth for “Sunday Night Football.”

Michaels is the leading candidate to be the voice of “Thursday Night Football” when Amazon takes over the exclusive rights next year. If Michaels’ deal goes through with Amazon, he is expected to still do a few games with NBC.

NBC has the Super Bowl in February in Los Angeles, which will be Tafoya’s final time on the sideline.
