Michael Jordan is considered by most the greatest player ever and he’s using that power to help current players make their voices heard.

The GOAT is emerging as a significant factor in the restart to the NBA playoffs, serving as a go-between for the owners and players following the postponement of consecutive days of the postseason due to protests of racial inequality and police brutality, ESPN has reported.

Jordan, the lone black majority owner in the NBA and the NBA Labor Relations Committee chairman, reached out to NBAPA present Chris Paul before Thursday’s meeting between players and owners to get a feel for what players wanted to achieve moving forward. The Bulls legend also talked to Rockets star Russell Westbrook about the issues that had led some players to want to cancel the season.

“Right now, listening is better than talking,” Jordan told the group, sources said.

“Michael is the perfect person to be in this role,” a league official added. “He’s been a high-profile player who has won championships. He’s also the owner of a small-market team. He has great credibility both with the players and the owners.”

Following the shooting of African-American man Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wisc., the Bucks refused to take the floor for their playoff game against the Magic on Wednesday. The game was postponed, and so were five others, leading to questions if the season would even continue. But players eventually opted to return following a meeting on Thursday. It remains uncertain when exactly the games will start again, but when they do, it appears Jordan had played a part.
