#MHA 398 Spoilers focus on the Rise of Toshinori Yagi (All Might)

• The chapter is titled “The Rise of Toshinori Yagi” and it focuses on the origin and the final battle of All Might, the symbol of peace. The chapter alternates between flashbacks of All Might’s past and the present fight against All For One, his arch-nemesis.

In a short flash-back, we see how All Might became Nana Shimura’s disciple despite being quirkless. When he had first asked her to take him under her wing, she’d refused saying that without a quirk, he’d barely be able to protect 3 meters around him.

Nana asked Yagi why he was so determined to protect others, when he had no quirk of his own. He told her that common people were too busy “protecting their own 3 meters”, so he had to do it himself.

MHA 398 Spoilers highlight parallels between the Deku and All Might

Switching to the present, a powerful device from All Might’s vehicle hits All For One, releasing a strong acid into his body. All Might seizes the moment to mock AFO, saying, “You said I was organic garbage, but look who’s rotting now.”

• As the fight continues, All Might finds himself on the building where Deku first asked him if he could be a hero. It looks like his ribs are crushed, and his lungs are barely working, but he remembers Stain’s words on All Might’s role in this story and forces himself to stand.
• When All For One shows up, All Might notices that he has aged backwards. He realizes that AFO had to use multiple quirks to stop the acid from spreading, but he ended up taking damage in the process. If All Might can keep landing hits, AFO might keep getting younger. This causes him to start laughing like a maniac.

He immediately orders Hercules to launch all remaining items at AFO. He continues laughing to enrage his opponent, but we get a quick panel of him saying, almost to himself, “I’ll do my best, we’ll do our best… and win!”

The chapter ends with a parallel between Deku and All Might. We see Deku thinking of All Might as he takes on Shigaraki, and All Might thinking “young Midoriya!” as he faces AFO.
