The Mets are focused on trying to upgrade their catching before the trade deadline expires Monday at 4 p.m.
They have, for example, talked to the Angels about Jason Castro. But there are multiple catchers available in the market, including Boston’s Christian Vazquez.
The Mets view catching as the one position that they could upgrade, not counting pitching. Wilson Ramos has struggled offensively. Tomas Nido has been on the injured list for undisclosed reasons.
