#Mets fan flashes laser pointer in Max Muncy’s eyes with game on the line

This was not the green light that hitters want to see.

In a crucial spot of Friday’s Mets-Dodgers game, a green light flashed onto Max Muncy’s face and halted play for a few minutes.

In a contest that was 4-4 in the top of the ninth at Citi Field and with a runner on second, Muncy collected himself before an 0-2 pitch against Edwin Diaz. Prior to stepping into the box, his face turned green.

“Come on, jeez,” Ron Darling said on PIX11. “That’s just awful.”

Muncy immediately pointed toward the left side, and the umpires conferred for several moments. Without resolution, Muncy stepped back into the box, and Diaz struck him out to end the inning without the light being seen again.

The scene mirrored a July game at the Stadium between the Yankees and Red Sox, when a red light began flashing. An MLB investigation found no evidence of a rules violation by either team.
