Guess what! MechWarrior 5 is making a monumental return to the PlayStation platform for the first time in 20 years! Piranha Games, the developer of MechWarrior, announced that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and the Heroes of the Inner Sphere expansion are going to be available in PS 4 and PS 5 from the 23^rd of September. Originally available on Xbox and PC, it will now be available to PS owners as well!

In addition to this release, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries’ physical box set edition will also be available for the Xbox and PS platforms in November this year. All major platforms are featured with cross-play for the game, which includes Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X/S. GOG.com and Steam. The release will feature over 30 new and improved features that were under development for over a year.

Piranha Games has also announced that when playing MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, players who do not own the Heroes of the Inner Sphere will be able to experience it in full. They just need to join a match that is hosted by anyone else who owns the expansion; it also does not matter which platform the host is playing on!
The announcement by Dareon Katz, Senior Community Manager for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries stated:

“As an added bonus, our team wanted to take a more generous approach when it comes to accessing DLC content, even if you don’t own it yourself.”

The campaign mode offers a new introduction story and tutorial. As well as a 360 LOD radar, better AI, more enhanced effects, and salvage crates. The DLC will offer players a choice between two paths, War Dog or Treasure Hunter. Here, you will be able to complete new quests, get new equipment and weapons, and explore new war zones.

Players will be engulfed in battlefields in the future. BattleMechs are humongous machines of destruction and are capable of bringing down entire cities. The quest for revenge and glory will take players over light-years, through the threads of interstellar intrigue to finally transform into an elite MechWarrior.
