#Mdou Moctar Announces New Album, Shares Video for New Song: Watch

Mdou Moctar has announced a new album called Afrique Victime. The Tuareg guitarist and his band’s first album for Matador Records arrives May 21 and has been announced with the release of a new song, “Tala Tannam.” Below, check out the music video for the song, directed by Cem Misirlioglu and shot in Niamey, Niger; find the album cover and tracklist below, too.

“While the song talks about love, we wanted to show the love between friendships and the love of Niger,” said Mdou Moctar producer and bassist Mikey Coltun. “The video includes friends and family—in the Tuareg community in villages around Niamey as well as Hausa people from villages in the Dosso region.”

Last fall, Mdou Moctar shared the single “Chismiten.” The new album follows 2019’s Ilana: The Creator.
