The Yankees made a minor trade Friday, shipping David Hale to the Phillies in exchange for Addison Russ, a source confirmed.

The 25-year-old Russ was part of the Phillies’ 60-player pool this season, but has never pitched above Double-A. He throws in the mid-90s and pitched well for Double-A Reading last season. Russ will report to the Yankees’ alternate site in Scranton.

The move came after the Yankees designated Hale for assignment on Monday to free up roster space for Aroldis Chapman, who was activated after his recovery from a battle with COVID-19.

Hale, 32, has had five stints with the Yankees. He pitched in five games for them this season and made 20 appearances a year ago. He will join a Phillies team that’s bullpen is in disarray.

“There’s a reason I kept opting back into the Yankee system despite the craziness and that is the first class nature of every facet of the organization,’’ Hale wrote on Instagram after being traded.

The Yankees’ bullpen has had issues of its own, with Tommy Kahnle out for the season following Tommy John surgery and Zack Britton on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.
