#Mattel family Barbie penthouse to list for $10 M

She’s a Barbie girl in a Barbie world — but not for much longer.

The iconic “Barbie penthouse” once owned by Mattel founders Ruth and Elliot Handler will hit the market Tuesday for just under $10 million, The Post can exclusively reveal.

The real-life Barbie and Ken (Barbara and Kenneth), daughter and son of Ruth and Elliot Handle, grew up in the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom Los Angeles condominium.

However, it was never quite so “Barbie” until its current owner, interior designer Nicole Sassaman, purchased it from Barbara Segal, who inherited the home from her toy-making parents.

Sassaman remodeled the 3,200-square-foot home with “sophisticated but fun” Barbie-doll inspiration during her almost decade-long residence in the penthouse, which will now list on the open market for the first time ever, asking $9,988,000.

"Barbie is like Madonna — she reinvents herself. She is resilient, nonjudgmental, she's a go-getter, and she relies on no one," Sassaman told The Post.

The home is filled with Venetian plaster, designer wallpaper, custom millwork, 12-foot ceilings, Holly Hunt decorative light fixtures and French fume-finished white oak wood floors, according to listing brokers Scott Segal and Carrie Berkman Lewis of Douglas Elliman.

“Every day I pinch myself. I feel really lucky. It was a lot of work, a lot of risk-taking — and I’m really grateful. I hope I can be inspirational to other girls or people that everything is possible,” Sassaman told The Post.

“I’m ready to let someone else have the dollhouse,” Sassaman told The Post. “It’s healthy to teach my daughter about detachment because nothing lasts forever. That’s part of why I have to let go and move on to something new. Change leads to growth.”

But she’s not letting it go without a party. Sassaman engaged 2019 Miss Teen USA winner Kaliegh Garris, emerging model Victoria Longfellow, singer Petite Meller, actress and model Arielle Raycene and “Deal or No Deal” model Jessica Lee to document a “last supper” in the penthouse.

The video, which was exclusively obtained by The Post, also includes Nicole herself, her husband Raphael Nabet and their daughter, Ava.

"The kitchen was terribly expensive. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't have spent that, but it's the hub of the house. We spend our time in the kitchens, so it deserved to get that," said Sassaman.

Step into the living room, and the eco-smart fireplace is surrounded by lighted crystal quartz. Against the wall, the custom glass wine cellar holds 300 bottles.

“I ordered all the supplies and had no clue how to build it. The team figured out how, and it came out even better than I imagined,” Sassaman told The Post.

Across, the home has an expansive balcony with sweeping views. Windows throughout the house offer panoramic views of the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Sign and the Pacific Ocean. The large windows invite natural light into the space.

“It doesn’t feel like you’re looking over the view — it feels like you’re in the view,” co-listing agent Carrie Berkman Lewis told The Post. “Mirrored surfaces reflect the natural light everywhere you look… It’s hard to photograph for that reason!”

And the dual-towered condominium complex has large tennis courts, a dog park, a swimming pool, an outdoor lounge, valet parking, a concierge, an office, a shipping dock and a gym on the Avenue of the Stars.

Barbara Handler herself came to the penthouse when it was finished and left Sassaman a note, which was published in Sassaman’s self-published “Barbie Penthouse” coffee table book.

“I didn’t know how much you loved Barbies and it is very touching seeing how you centered the whole project around her. I wish my parents could see what you did!” Barbara Segal, the Handlers’ daughter and Barbie’s namesake, wrote in the note.
