#Mascots Have It Rough in Uramichi Oniisan Character PV

Costumed rabbit mascot Usaokun finds the attitude of his co-worker, Uramiichi Oniisan, completely intimidating in a scene from the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime.

Being a costumed rabbit isn’t all its cracked up to be in a new character preview video for Uramichi Oniisan, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark comedy manga by Gaku Kuse about a cynical young man who keeps putting his grim and pessimistic personality on display in his job as a fitness instructor on a popular children’s TV program.

The PV (below) focuses on Tobikichi Usahara, aka “Usao-kun”, who is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita. Usao-kun is Uramichi’s junior at college, and he’s absolutely terrified of his senpai, who constantly takes out his frustrations on the helpless mascot character. Usao-kun’s hobbies include drinking and pachinko. Despite how nervous Uramichi makes him, Usao-kun is a naturally an extroverted person, and his goal is to be interesting and popular.

The Uramichi Oniisan manga is serialized in Ichijinsha’s comic POOL digital magazine, and an English language version is also published by Kodansha Comics under the title Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan. Kodansha Comics describes the story of the series as follows:

How did the cynical Uramichi end up hosting a TV show for small children? And how long is the studio going to let him keep teaching the kids the sorrow and exhaustion of life instead of, say, the ABCs?

A new key visual for the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime, featuring the cast of Maman to Together: costumed mascots Kumao-kun and Usao-kun, hosts Iketeru Oniisan and Utano Oneesan and fitness instructor Uramichi Oniisan.

The Uramichi Oniisan TV anime is directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama and features animation production by Studio Blanc.. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on TV Tokyo on July 05, 2021, with additional broadcasts to follow later on BS11, WOWOW, Hokkaido Television Broadcasting, and Animax.
