“Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Anime Postpones Airing Start Date”
The upcoming Masamune-kun’s Revenge R anime will now begin airing in July instead of April, a new update has revealed.
According to the official statement, the change comes from the production schedule undergoing revision as a consequence of the spread of COVID-19.
The original Spring release window for Masamune-kun’s Revenge R was announced last November.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R is the second season of 2017’s Masamune-kun’s Revenge. The anime is based on the manga written by Hazuki Takeoka and drawn by Tiv, which ran from 2012 to 2018 in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Rex. 11 tankoubon volumes were published under the Rex Comics label, with the final volume serving as an afterstory.

As an overweight child, Makabe Masamune was mercilessly teased and bullied by one particular girl, Adagaki Aki. Determined to one day exact his revenge upon her, Makabe begins a rigorous regimen of self-improvement and personal transformation.
Years later, Masamune reemerges as a new man. Handsome, popular, with perfect grades and good at sports, Masamune-kun transfers to Aki’s school, and is unrecognizable to her. Now, Masamune-kun is ready to confront the girl who bullied him so many years ago and humiliate her at last. But will revenge be as sweet as he thought?
The returning staff for Masamune-kun’s Revenge R includes Mirai Minato as director, Michiko Yokote as series composer and one of the scriptwriters, Yuuki Sawairi as character designer and chief animation director, Studio Shamrock’s Atsuki Sato as photography director, and Tatsuya Kato as music composer. New staff members include Shiho Mizumoto (Deep Insanity: The Lost Child) as color designer and Natsumi Inoue (Higurashi: When They Cry – Gou animation director) and Yukiko Akiyama (Shoot! Goal to the Future character designer) as sub-character designers.
Meanwhile, the returning cast includes Natsuki Hanae as Masamune Makabe, Ayaka Ohashi as Aki Adagaki, and Inori Minase as Yoshino Koiwai.
