#Mark Ruffalo apologizes for saying Israel committed genocide

“#Mark Ruffalo apologizes for saying Israel committed genocide”
Mark Ruffalo apologized this week for suggesting that Israel committed “genocide” during its 11-day conflict with Palestinian militants in Gaza.
“I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing ‘genocide’,” the outspoken actor tweeted Monday.
“It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole.”
The woke actor did not specify which public statement he was apologizing for, but on May 11, he compared Israel to apartheid-era South Africa.
“1500 Palestinians face expulsion in #Jerusalem. 200 protesters have been injured. 9 children have been killed,” he tweeted at the time.
“Sanctions on South Africa helped free its black people – it’s time for sanctions on Israel to free Palestinians. Join the call. #SheikhJarrah.”
The mea culpa comes after Islamist Hamas militants and Israel reached a cease-fire after an 11-day conflict, in which at least 230 Palestinians and 12 Israelis were killed.
Ruffalo isn’t the only celebrity to weigh in on the recent devastating Middle East hostilities.
Supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, who are both of Palestinian ancestry, have posted on social media in support of Palestinians as well.
“This is not about religion. This is not about spewing hate on one or the other,” Bella Hadid recently wrote.
“This is about Israeli colonization, ethnic cleansing, military occupation and apartheid over the Palestinian people that has been going on for YEARS!”
