#Manchester United captain Harry Maguire arrested after brawl in Greece

After being arrested after in a brawl on the Greek island of Mykonos, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire pleaded not guilty in court Saturday to aggravated assault charges. He is is “fully co-operating” with Greek police, the English Premier League club said Friday.

The 27-year-old defender was vacationing on Mykonos when he was arrested outside a bar with two other Britons close in age in an incident Friday morning where police officers were allegedly threatened and attacked, CNN reported Saturday.

A spokesperson for the South Aegean Police Directorate confirmed the three arrests to CNN. The police said officers initially tried to resolve a dispute involving the men and others but “the three foreigners involved in the incident turned against them, insulting and hitting a police officer with fists.”

“The three foreigners were taken to the Mykonos Police Station, where upon their arrival they strongly resisted, pushing and beating three police officers,” the statement continued. “One of the detainees then tried to offer money so that the procedure against them would not be completed.”

The Sun reported Saturday that the brawl broke out after Maguire’s younger sister was stabbed in the arm.

The fight started when Maguire was apparently baited by rival fans in the bar after hours of drinking.

His sister Daisy was then stabbed in the arm with a “sharp object” — causing Harry to step in and defend her, Mykonos Voice reported. A big fight then broke out between Maguire and his friends and other British vacationers. Among those partying with Maguire was Kate Moss’ sister Lottie Moss, 22.

Maguire and his pals spent two nights in a jail cell and are now free to return to the UK pending a Tuesday hearing that Maguire doesn’t have to attend.

Maguire’s lawyer told the Sun he denies all wrongdoing.

Maguire signed with the Old Trafford club from Leicester in 2019 for over $100 million. The team finished third in the Premier League this season.
