#Man who fractured skull in NYC attack dies, suspect charged

The man who fractured his skull when a rival punched him to the ground in the East Village last month has died of his injuries — and his attacker has been busted, cops said Tuesday.

Anthony Fabriani, 60, was arguing with Anthony Larocca, 19, on First Avenue near East 12th Street at about 2:50 p.m. Feb. 10 when the teen punched him in the left eye, knocking him to the ground, police said.

Fabriani was nearly knocked unconscious when he slammed his head on the sidewalk, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a fractured skull, a fractured orbital bone and swelling of the brain.

Fabriani, of Sheepshead Bay, died of his injuries on Feb. 23, cops said.

Larocca, of the Lower East Side, was arrested Monday and charged with assault, police said.

Any upgraded charges will be handled by the Manhattan DA’s office.

Police said it appears the two men did not know each other. The nature of the dispute remained unclear Tuesday.

Larocca has no prior arrests, cops said.

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the unidentified male.
Anthony Larocca, of the Lower East Side, was arrested March 1, 2021 and charged with assault, police said.
