A man was shot during what appeared to be an attempted robbery on the increasingly dangerous Upper West Side early Monday, cops said.

The 29-year-old victim was blasted in the groin on Amsterdam Avenue near West 94th Street around 4:30 a.m., according to police.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cops are investigating the possibility that the shooter had tried to rob him, according to police.

The well-heeled neighborhood has seen a steep decline in quality of life during the coronavirus pandemic, and an uptick in street crime. Recovering addicts and registered sex-offenders have been quietly shifted to area hotels amid fears that shelters couldn’t provide enough social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.

The neighborhood has recently been rife with drug-dealing, broad-daylight masturbation and public urination.

The shooting occurred amid a recent uptick in gun violence citywide.

By the beginning of this month, the city had already seen more shootings this year than the whole of 2019 — with five months to go.
