The footage, released by police Monday night and captured around 12:45 a.m. Friday, shows an adult, followed by a small child wearing a red hat, walking into the Sheepshead Bay Houses on Avenue W near Nostrand Avenue.
A man follows behind and holds the door open as he fires his handgun in another direction, outside the building, the clip shows.
He fired several shots before fleeing into the building, cops said. Police are still searching for the suspect.
No one was injured.
The incident comes amid a recent surge of shootings citywide.
