The victim was blasted in the head, ankle and wrist on Queens Boulevard near Hillside Avenue in Jamaica around 2:30 a.m., police said.
He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.
After the shooting, someone fled in a gray sedan heading west on Hillside Avenue, cops said.
The motive for the gunplay was not immediately clear.
About 20 minutes earlier, a 28-year-old man was shot once in the buttocks on East 224th Street near Bronxwood Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, cops said.
He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shootings come a day after seven people were shot in five incidents across the city, according to preliminary numbers released by the NYPD.
Among the victims was 17-year-old Kather Werts, who was shot in the head and foot just before 4:45 p.m. Thursday on Hoe Avenue near East 174th Street in Crotona.
Werts, of Belmont, was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

And Caron Sessoms, 40, was blasted twice in the neck around 11 a.m. during an apparently targeted ambush at the corner of East 225 Street and White Plains Road in Wakefield, cops said.
An unknown triggerman got out of a car, walked up to the victim and opened fire, according to police.
Cops are looking for a dark-skinned adult male, with a medium build, last seen wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage shorts, white socks and red and black sandals — seen carrying a small pink bag — in connection to that slaying.
Gotham has endured 14 straight weeks of surging gun violence.
On Thursday’s date in 2019, only one person was shot.
