#Man hit by stray bullet on NYC street

A man was shot in the leg by a stray bullet as he walked down a Midtown street Sunday night, police and sources said.

The victim, a 37-year-old, was hit by the gunfire on West 45th Street near Sixth Avenue at about 9 p.m after a group of people started fighting on the block and gunshots rang out, police and sources said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the feud that led to the shooting.

The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk when he heard shots and realized he had been hit, sources said.

He was taken by EMS to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The shooter fled in a black vehicle, according to police. No arrests were made as of late Sunday.

Two shell casings were recovered at the scene, police sources said.
