#Makeup artist details COVID-19 safety measures in viral video

This makeup artist is not making it up: In order to do her job, she now needs to take a mind-blowing number of coronavirus-related precautions.

In a TikTok video that has gone viral with more than 19,000 likes and 110 shares, Los Angeles-based Shannon Marie Trigger details the tedious steps that go into a single work day, as movie and TV shoots resume around the country.

In addition to wearing a mask underneath a plastic face shield, Trigger prepares for a day working during the pandemic by getting an early start and loading easy-to-wipe-down plastic bins full of makeup supplies in her car. On top of that, she has to comb through a detailed questionnaire, including whether she has body aches or fatigue, and has her temperature taken before arriving on set for a nearly 13-hour shift.

She starts her day on set by putting some makeup on the actors before heading outside to the shoot. That’s after grabbing an individually wrapped breakfast — not the typical buffet-style meals provided to film crews before the pandemic.

To keep things separated, each actor has their own bag loaded with makeup products they’ll need for touch-up applications during filming.

“I carry a lot of electronic fans, umbrellas, to help shade the actors and a ton of SPF,” she said in the video.

And because the crew aims to maintain social distancing as much as possible, she has remote access to a monitor that gives a view of the camera to “make adjustments as necessary.”

“There are days when this job is so far from glamorous!” she said after taking off her shield and mask, both of which she appeared to have on for hours.

At the end of the day, she has to wipe and disinfect every single tool she used, including all her brushes, with 70% alcohol sanitizer in preparation for use the next day.

“I am wiped but ready to do it all again tomorrow,” she said.
