#Magic: The Gathering’s New Expansion Gets Visual Novel and Hatsune Miku Song

Earlier this week, Wizards of the Coast announced that virtual pop star Hatsune Miku would collaborate with Magic: The Gathering. The team-up, in honor of the upcoming Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty expansion, went live yesterday: a brand new song written especially for the cyberpunk setting.

Titled “Connected,” the song is composed by songwriter and remixer Mwk. While it looks like there are no plans for Miku to appear in the expansion itself, the music video shows that she’d fit right in. Check it out:

That’s not all Wizards of the Coast has in store, either. They’ve just announced a tie-in visual novel — simply titled Kamigawa: A Visual Novel — that will let you explore the futuristic setting as an Imperial Samurai on a mission. The game comes to us from YRS TRULY, who are no stranger to MtG. The group promoted Innistrad: Midnight Hunt with the “Lycanspiricy” ARG, built an interactive school of magic in Gather, and ran a contest to crown the World’s Okayest Magic Player from a group of streamers who don’t play the game.

The new VN promises gameplay where your choices matter, a look at lots of locations around Kamigawa, and side quests featuring cameos from familiar faces:

Kamigawa: A Visual Novel will be available starting February 9.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty will take MtG players back to a brightly-lit world where ninja and samurai fight in a cyberpunk setting. The set is available for pre-order now, and comes out officially on February 18. MTG Arena players get the expansion sooner, as it goes live in-game on February 10.
