Harlem-bred rapper Ma$e rose to notoriety as an artist on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records roster in the late ’90s and early aughts. Although Ma$e has three studio albums in his discography, he made a name for himself primarily thanks to his 4x-platinum debut Harlem World.

Over 20 years later, Murda Mase is back with a new track called “Oracle 2: The Liberation Of Mason Betha,” a nod to his government name. But this is no ordinary single; the track is dedicated to trashing Bad Boy founder Diddy, accusing him of exploiting Biggie’s death.

As he spits, “Yeah, I’m just a Harlem n-gga reppin’ down a Vegas strip with my own Suge/You from Mt. Vernon, n-gga, go and rep your own hood/I’m not hating on your Billi worth/Right now, I’m only saying what you really work/You ain’t no architect/You just a n-gga who know how to market death.”

Diddy, of course, was partially raised in Mt. Vernon and attended an all-boys Roman Catholic high school in the Wakefield neighborhood in the Bronx. The school’s campus borders Mount Vernon in neighboring Westchester County.

Ma$e retired from Hip Hop in 2009 to pursue a career as a pastor. He then became an ordained minister at Clark Atlanta University. Ma$e then returned from a five-year hiatus with his 2004 album, Welcome Back.

As far as Ma$e’s relationship with Diddy, he aired out some of his grievances in 2020 via a since-deleted Instagram post.

“Your past business practices knowingly has continued purposely starved your artist and been extremely unfair to the very same artist that helped u obtain that Icon Award on the iconic Bad Boy label,” he wrote. “For example, u still got my publishing from 24 years ago in which u gave me $20k. Which makes me never want to work w/ u as any artist wouldn’t.”

Ma$e also revealed he offered Diddy $2 million for his masters, but the Hip Hop mogul would only oblige if he could beat the “European guy’s” offer, even though Diddy supposedly paid just $20,000 over two decades ago.

“You bought it for about 20k & I offered you 2m in cash,” he added. “This is not black excellence at all.”

Diddy’s business practices have been under scrutiny over the last few weeks after an old clip of Making The Band resurfaced online. Former contestants Willie Taylor, Freddy P and Babs Bunny came forward with their negative experiences on the show.

Diddy reacted to the chatter with an Instagram post that read, “STOP ALL YOUR CRYING, BITCHING & MOANING. HUSTLE HARDER OR GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR WAY. – LOVE.”
