“Lori Loughlin Says Bob Saget Was ‘Everyone’s Dad’ as Friends Mourn Late Comedian”
Lori Loughlin joined John Stamos, John Mayer, and Jeff Ross in remembering Bob Saget in light of his new tribute special hitting Netflix.
In light of Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute hitting Netflix, the four had taken to Instagram Live (via TMZ) and shared Saget memories. While the loss has obviously been very hard for each of them, Loughlin finds it touching to see just how much Saget’s passing had affected his many fans. Loughlin says she has been regularly approached by strangers expressing their sorrow over losing Saget which she attributes to his status as “everyone’s dad,” based on playing one of television’s most iconic fathers as Danny Tanner on Full House.
“I think it’s been really very heartwarming how people I don’t know genuinely are coming up and saying, ‘I’m sorry for your loss. I’m so sorry.’ And then people talking about how much Bob meant to them, because (he’s) everyone’s dad. He’s part of everyone’s childhood. So, I think that’s the most touching part, just talking to fans and having them reach out and offer their condolences, but also just talk about how much Bob meant to them. It’s still hard for me to believe that Bob is gone. It really is. It’s just hard to believe. You keep waiting for him… I don’t know.”
Stamos explains how Saget had been in contact with them so frequently that there’s still a part of them that expects for the late comic to reach out.
“He was bombastic with his love to us. It was just a lot of texts a day.”
Bob Saget Always Wanted a Netflix Special
In the Instagram chat, Jeff Ross mentioned how Bob Saget really wanted his own Netflix special. While he has been given that honor posthumously with the Netflix tribute, Ross finds it to be bittersweet as he feels Saget would be happy with the special. Ross also mentioned how the proceeds raised from the special were donated to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, something that was very important to Saget, who’d lost his sister to scleroderma.
“He always wanted a Netflix special. I don’t think anyone’s funeral has ever been on TV since Lady Diana died, Princess Diana. So, the fact that it’s happening now for Bob is sort of bittersweet. I know he’d be proud of it. It’s a big deal, and the proceeds are going to causes that are really important to Bob, so I think that’s important. I hope people watch it and they miss him, but maybe they feel a little bit better after they watch it.”
Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute is now streaming on Netflix.
