“#Lollapalooza 2021 Lineup Announced: Megan Thee Stallion, Tyler, the Creator, Foo Fighters, Post Malone, and More”
Lollapalooza officially announced its return yesterday. A press release for the festival stated that full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results will be required to attend. The negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 24 hours of attending Lollapalooza each day. The festival organizers are encouraging vaccinations by partnering with the City of Chicago.
“Here in Chicago, the word ‘Lollapalooza’ has always been synonymous with summer, great music and four days of unforgettable fun—which made last year’s decision to postpone it all the more difficult,” Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot said in press materials. “Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals. I want to thank the Lollapalooza team for working closely with the City to create a reopening strategy that prioritizes safety and can’t wait to see festivalgoers return to Grant Park this summer.”
CDPH Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D. added:
Lollapalooza is the latest major festival to announce its return following last year’s mass COVID-19 cancellations. Rolling Loud announced a Miami edition for late July in April, featuring its original 2020 headliners Travis Scott, Post Malone, and A$AP Rocky. Bonnaroo and New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival are both slated to return the first weekend of September.
