#Lockheed Martin had ‘white male privilege’ training: report

America’s largest defense contractor reportedly made 13 top executives participate in a three-day “White Men’s Caucus” that involved discussions of “white male privilege” and other pro-diversity training.

The participants from Lockheed Martin engaged in activities over Zoom that included a “free association” exercise in which the term “white men” was equated to “old,” “racist,” “privileged,” “anti-women,” “angry,” “Aryan Nation” and “KKK,” the City Journal reported Wednesday.

That session reportedly led to conclusions that white men “don’t care about diversity,” “have a classical perspective on history and colonialism,” and “don’t want to give away our power.”

In another exercise, referred to as “hearts and minds” training, the Lockheed executives were given 156 various “privilege statements” to read and discuss, according to City Journal, which is published by the conservative Manhattan Institute think tank.

The statements reportedly included, “My culture teaches me to minimize the perspectives and powers of people of other races,” “I can commit acts of terrorism, violence or crime and not have it attributed to my race,” “My earning potential is 15-33% higher than a woman’s” and “My reproductive organs are not seen as the property of other men, the government, and/or even strangers because of my gender.”

Another workshop session involved the reading of “I’m tired” statements from what City Journal described as “fictitious racial minorities and women.”

Those statements reportedly included, “I’m tired of you making more money than me,” “I’m tired of people disparaging our campaigns (like Black Lives Matter),” “I’m tired of Black boys/girls being murdered” and “I’m tired of people thinking they’re smarter and more qualified than me”; “I’m tired of hearing about how we need a wall at the southern borders but not on the northern borders”; “I’m tired of the desire or comment to remove race—the concept that we should be ‘colorblind.’ ”

The training program took place June 8-11, according to documents posted online by the article’s author Christopher Rufo.

The Lockheed execs who took part reportedly included director of global supply chain operations Aaron Huckaby; retired Air Force Lt. Col. David Starr, director of Lockheed’s Hercules C-130 military transport program; and retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Bruce Litchfield, vice president of sustainment operations.

The program was reportedly run by White Men as Full Diversity Partners, which was founded in 1999 and is based in Portland, Ore.

The firm specializes in a “provocative approach to engaging white male business leaders in inclusion efforts” that help them “challenge their mindsets, grow courageously and build culturally competent leadership teams,” according to its website.

WMFDP says its clients include such household names as AT&T, Coca-Cola, Dell, Exxon-Mobile and NASA.

In a statement, a Lockheed spokesperson said the company “has robust employee training programs focused on our core values of doing what is right, respecting others and performing with excellence.”

“Like many corporations, we employ multiple vendors and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to ensure they are aligned with our values, applicable laws and regulations, and incorporate employee feedback and best practices,” the statement added.

Lockheed didn’t respond when asked how much it spent on the WMFDP training workshop.

A WMFDP spokesperson said the City Journal report was “based on factual misrepresentations and a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of diversity, equity and inclusion work,” but didn’t elaborate.
