Liturgy have announced their new “cosmogonical opera-album” Origin of the Alimonies with an aria called “Lonely OIOION.” Origin of the Alimonies is due out November 20 via Hunter Hunt-Hendrix’s label YLYLCYN. Watch a trailer and hear the track below.
Origin of the Alimonies is the followup to 2019’s H.A.Q.Q. It’s the first album the band has released since Hunt-Hendrix came out as transgender earlier this year. The new album will be accompanied by a new operatic film written that was directed, shot, edited by, and stars Hunt-Hendrix. According to a press release, Hunt-Hendrix “uses her evolving body, in the wake her recent gender affirmation as a trans woman, as the medium for the story.”
Hunter Hunt-Hendrix produced Origin of the Alimonies and also sang and played guitar on the record. Her band for the lineup features guitarist Bernard Gann, bassist Tia Vincent-Clark, and drummer Leo Didkovsky.
