Gang's All Here Episode 34 Jets podcast

The Jets came out Sunday in their season opener at Buffalo looking like a college team going up against an NFL team. They were quickly down 21-0 and looked putrid offensively. They gave Josh Allen plenty of time to throw and run freely. It resulted in a 27-17 loss and a lot of head scratching from Jets fans. To recap the rough loss, we present a new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast with Brian Costello and yours truly.

We open the show reacting to the dismal performance from the Jets, noting that the final score does not show just how badly the Jets were outplayed by the Bills. There weren’t many good things to take away from this game besides the strong play from safety Marcus Maye. Coz compared the start of this game to Alabama taking on Austin Peay, feeling like it was 50-0 and not 21-0. We talk about just how atrocious Sam Darnold looked, comparing it to the game where he was seeing ghosts. We get into Pierre Desir getting benched early, the defense having a nonexistent pass rush, Allen having a career day, passing for 300 yards for the first time in his career and the Jets offense not moving the ball. They had tons of plays that were thrown at the line or behind the line of scrimmage. We talk about how badly Adam Gase and Gregg Williams were outcoached and the questionable future of Gase as head coach. Coz believes Le’Veon Bell could potentially miss some significant time with his hamstring injury. Coz touches on when we could end up seeing Denzel Mims and La’Mical Perine and lets us know what Darnold and Gase said after the game.

Longtime NY Post football columnist Steve Serby then joins the podcast. Serby gets into what it was like covering the game at home this week vs. the experience Coz had at the stadium in Orchard Park. We get into the Gase decision to put Bell back in the game after the hamstring injury and how he got hurt. We examine Darnold not progressing at all and concerns that this might just be the quarterback he is. Would a new coach make a big difference in him getting better? When might Gase be let go and could it be this year? How good are the Bills? We also look ahead to the matchup against the 49ers, with both teams coming into the game off a loss.
