Paul Schrader’s new film The Master Gardener hits U.S. theaters today (May 19). Devonté Hynes’ original soundtrack for the film is out today in album form, too, via Milan Records, a Sony imprint.
28 tracks long — most of them brief but a few of them pushing past the four-minute mark — The Master Gardener OST is another tour de force for the artist also known as Blood Orange, mixing gorgeous guitarscapes with ominous ambient passages to create an aura that’s both unsettling and serene. After 50 wordless minutes, Hynes gives the stage to Alabama singer-songwriter Mereba for the ethereal waltz “Space and Time,” the soundtrack’s final cut. Stream the score below.
