Opening Day has finally arrived and what a glorious feeling it is to have baseball back. The Yankees will open the season in Washington, D.C. against the Nationals tonight. To get you ready for the Yankees season opener, we present to you a brand new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Yankees great Jeff Nelson.

Shearn and Nellie look at the rosters heading into Opening Day and discuss Michael King deservedly making the team. They then dive into the starting rotation and the injuries they have suffered. Nellie believes having three lefties in a rotation is a big mistake, and there are reasons that most teams don’t do that. They go through each position for the Yankees in the field and how they expect the depth chart to turn out. The guys then make their predictions for the Yankees this season. Spoiler alert: they both expect the Bronx Bombers to win the AL East.

Speaking of winning the AL East, NY Post baseball writer Dan Martin agrees. Martin joins the guys to talk about the lefty-heavy conundrum in the rotation that Nellie is not a fan of, why that should not matter if they perform well, how the pitching staff may end up shaking out, the team’s health and his prediction for the Yanks and who he thinks they will face in the World Series.

YES Network color commentator and former Yankees catcher John Flaherty then joins the show. Flaherty starts by talking about catching Nellie with the Yankees in 2003, the adjustments to broadcasting games and how the Yankees are looking heading into the season. “Flash” also provides strong insight on Gary Sanchez’s improved defense behind the dish, the importance of James Paxton in the rotation and why he thinks the Bronx Bombers will win the division.
