CONTENTS

In the not too distant future: Mankind is forced to seek protection from its worst threat to date in mobile fortresses, the so-called plantations. The only effective weapon against the beasts that keep attacking human settlements are the Franxx, powerful combat robots controlled by one male and one female pilot. One of the contenders for the next generation of Franxx pilots is Hiro, who was once treated as a child prodigy, but who has recently failed every attempt to find a suitable partner and is therefore on the verge of retirement. When he skipped the start ceremony in order to pursue his thoughts in a forest instead, he met a horned girl who introduces herself as Zero Two and seems strangely familiar to him …

CONCLUSION

“Darling in the Franxx” is a classic mecha anime that combines exciting action sequences with a captivating story. Even if the first half is still quite repetitive and focused on action, the whole setting raises many questions that are gradually being investigated.

I also find the entire scenario interesting, in which the earth and humanity are already on the edge of existence. The last survivors found walking and protected cities, the so-called “Plantations”, in order to protect themselves in the fight against a mysterious way of life. Robots (the “Franxx”) are used for combat, but only children can control them. Despite the rather gloomy scenery, you still manage to bring humor into the whole story. This comes from the children who control the Franxx and are at the same time the group of people you follow in the course of the story. Overall, they still seem quite childish, but still authentic and varied and make the story what it is in the end.

Fans of “Neon Genesis Evangelion” or “Code Geass” will also get their money’s worth here.
