Lil Durk is on top of the world at the moment. His rap career has elevated to new heights and with his new album 7220 finally out, the Chicago native is looking to aim even higher.

Many fans might say Drake helped Durkio reach another level after featuring him on his 2020 single “Laugh No Cry Later,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains his highest-charting hit. The OVO boss gave Durk another major look on his record-breaking Certified Lover Boy album last year.

However, the OTF rapper feels he’s now at a level now where he’s surpassed Drake — to a certain demographic of rap fans, at least.

“Shit, to us, in this muthafucka, we bigger than [Drake], you know what I’m sayin’?” Durk claimed in his recent interview with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast. “We touch people; Drake at a rate where he can stay in the fucking house if he want to.

“But nah, shout out to him. He touch the youth. That’s one thing about him. He touched us and got us hotter than what the fuck we was. But a lot of people can’t say that, a lot of these muthafuckas don’t even know him; a lot of people he talk to don’t know me.

He added, “I’m in this muthafucka, in the middle of the trenches with a million dollars doing a fucking interview, that’s why.”

Despite Lil Durk‘s comments, Drake is still undoubtedly the bigger artist overall. According to Chart Data, Drizzy is the most streamed artist in the United States in 2022 so far with 1.4 billion plays across all platforms.

Ironically, No. 2 on that list is Durk’s rival NBA YoungBoy with 1.3 billion streams.

Nevertheless, Durk is enjoying the fruits of “the Drake effect.” As he explained in elsewhere in his Million Dollaz Worth of Game interview, his appearance on “Laugh Now Cry Later” almost tripled his feature price from $40,000 to a cool $100,000.

Lil Durk isn’t the only rapper to claim he’s bigger than Drake. Last year, 21 Savage argued that for all of Drizzy’s achievements, he’ll never be top dog in Atlanta.

“N-ggas don’t be listening to Drake like that where [I’m from],” he said. “When you ain’t no rapper, all them statistics don’t mean shit. A regular street n-gga don’t give a fuck about how many times you went Number 1 [or] how many white people listen to your shit, ’cause they don’t even think that far.

“The farthest they think is the club: who’s selling this club out? That’s who they think is the biggest n-ggas. In Atlanta, it’s a lot of n-ggas who you really can’t tell them Future ain’t bigger than Drake.”
