Two children were critically injured and five others sent to the hospital after a car crash on Long Island on Tuesday afternoon.
Three adults were also injured in the 2:30 p.m. wreck in Lake Grove, according to Suffolk County Police.
The accident happened when the driver of Chevrolet Traverse tried to make a left off of Middle Country Road into a parking lot and struck a Nissan Rogue, police said.
Two children in the Traverse, a 3-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, according to officials.
The driver of the Rouge and the driver of the Traverse, along with an adult passenger, and three other kids, ages 13, 10, and 3, were also hospitalized with injuries they were expected to recover from, police said.

There was no word if anyone broke the law, and officials impounded both SUVs for safety checks, the release said.
