The Issue: A man armed with a bat who allegedly attacked 10 people Saturday night.

Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo have a duty to protect this state’s residents (“Bat out of hell,” Jan. 4). We pay some of the highest sales and real-estate taxes in the nation. We should not have to put our lives on the line walking around this city in broad daylight or riding the subway.

The bat-wielding maniac is just one of many animals protected by the radical leftists in office. The fact that a Cuomo staffer was randomly assaulted in the city should send a stinging message to the bozos in charge that they have put us all in harm’s way with their insane policies.

Go write another book, Cuomo, and let’s get someone who cares about the law-abiding residents of this city in office.

As if New York doesn’t have enough of its own maniacs, we are now importing them from New Jersey. After one hour of random attacks on innocent victims, the mayhem finally ended when the bat perpetrator stole a car and rammed it into a police car.

Although numerous criminal charges were filed, I am not optimistic that justice will be served. Lest we forget, this is New York.

In 1994, when New York City was overrun by crime, Rudy Giuliani became mayor and soon teamed up with Gov. George Pataki. By putting smart strategies into effect and keeping repeat offenders in jail, crime dropped dramatically and continued to drop into the Michael Bloomberg era.

And then along came Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio, and we are back to pre-1994, where the outlaws have benefitted from such policies as “Raise the Age,” no-cash bail and defunding the police.

Seeing our line of defense crumble, the thugs took advantage, and we are now having frequent crime, such as the recent bat and bicycle attacks.

Ten months ago, I told my wife: We are on our own. If attacked or robbed, police and judicial protection no longer exist in New York City.

It’s time to stop paying the police and judges. They do not perform. Fire them all and lower our taxes. There is no more “law and order,” and the judges do not punish criminals in a timely manner, if at all.

Where were the police during the bat attack? The police are clerks — they show up after-the-fact to fill out forms. The judges don’t provide justice, and then use the revolving door principle to set the criminals free.

The Issue: Vandalism of St. Patrick’s cathedral during a Black Lives Matter protest on Friday.

It’s outrageous that the repeated desecration of one of the most iconic cathedrals in the world is allowed to occur here in New York City (“Know-Nothings,” Timothy Cardinal Dolan, PostOpinion, Jan. 6).

While the city was experiencing a huge spike in shootings and murders, Mayor de Blasio has done nothing to protect one of the city’s most revered houses of worship.

This misguided man never disappoints with his ability to further add to the pathetic legacy.

Those “graffiti artists” who vandalized St. Patrick’s Cathedral should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I understand Timothy Cardinal Dolan’s take on this issue. There’s plenty of history in that cathedral. Tourists of all faiths visit frequently. Protesters need to think twice.
