Lenovo’s Smart Clock is an incredible value—it’s a Google Assistant smart display, speaker, and alarm clock that costs less than $70. And now, Lenovo is showing off an Alexa version of its affordable smart display called the Smart Clock Essential.

Like any good nightstand companion, the Lenovo Smart Clock doesn’t have a camera and features a hard microphone mute switch. Its display automatically dims in the dark, and a USB port on the back of the Smart Clock can charge your phone.

Naturally, the Smart Clock Essential has all the features you’d expect from an Echo speaker. You can tell Alexa to play music, add a reminder to your schedule, set alarms, or control smart home devices. And of course, you can snooze the alarm with voice commands.

Lenovo sells a ton of weird accessories for its Smart Clocks, including a wireless charging dock for your phone. But you’re not prepared for the next Smart Clock accessory—an “Ambient Light Dock” that lights up and looks like a weird, bumpy, lumpy mess. The Ambient Light Dock will come in two styles; one looks like a seal, while the other looks like … a “squid.”

The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential launches this month for $60, while the seal and “squid” Ambient Light Docks arrive sometime before April for $30 each. Additionally, Lenovo says that it’s updating its Smart Frame to display photos from multiple sources, as opposed to just Google Photos.
