A new trailer has been released for Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Part III: Intrigue. The third part of Legend of the Galactic Heroes’s fourth season will screen in Japanese theaters on November 25, 2022. Parts one and two premiered on September 30 and October 28 respectively.  

The main production staff from previous seasons are working on the fourth season. The staff includes Shunsuke Tada as director, Yuujirou Moriyama as assistant director, Noboru Takagi as series composer, and Youko Kikuchi, Kei Tsushima, and Iwao Teraoka as character designers. Production I.G is handling the animation production for season four. 

Legend of the Galactic Heroes began as a novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka from November 30, 1982 to November 15, 1987. 10 volumes of the novels have been published in total and were adapted into a 1988 anime television series, OVA series, and several films. The first two seasons aired in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Thousands of years into the future, humanity has advanced into space. Here it has divided into two countries and two different forms of government: the autocracy of the Galactic Empire, and the democracy of the Free Planets Alliance. The countries have been at war for 150 years. Near the end of the 8th age of the space calendar, the appearance of two geniuses will change history forever. The unstoppable genius, Reinhard von Lohengramm, and the unbeatable magician, Yang Wen-li. As heads of the Imperial and Alliance armies respectively, the two will face each other in battle over and over again.
