#L.A. Sheriff’s Department Investigating Marilyn Manson for Domestic Violence Allegations

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating domestic violence allegations recently levied against Marilyn Manson, as Billboard points out. “The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Victims Bureau is investigating allegation(s) of domestic violence involving Mr. Brian Warner also known as ‘Marilyn Manson,’ who works in the music industry,” a representative for the L.A. Sheriff’s Department told Billboard. “The incidents occurred between 2009 and 2011 when Mr. Warner lived in the city of West Hollywood.”

Pitchfork has reached out the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for comment.

On February 1, actress Evan Rachel Wood came forward naming Manson as her abuser, saying that he had “abused [her] horrifically for years” while they were in a relationship. Though she had previously spoken out about surviving domestic violence, it was the first time she had named Manson.

Manson responded with a blanket-denial statement on Instagram. “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality,” he wrote. “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how—and why—others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Following the allegations, Manson’s label, television shows, and booking agency dropped him. Several other women came forward with accounts of heir own experiences with the singer. Jenna Jameson said in an interview with the Daily Mail that Manson had fantasized about burning her alive and bitten her non-consensually during sex. Actress Esmé Bianco told New York Magazine Manson had physically and psychologically abused her while they were in a relationship, leaving her with scars on her body and PTSD.

Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell later said that Manson had attempted to film up her skirt with a GoPro camera at a music festival. Phoebe Bridgers added that he had once referred to a space as the “r*pe room” in his home.

Dita Von Teese, who was married to Manson for a year, issued a statement saying that the other women’s accounts did not “match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple.”
