“#Kyoto Animation's Violet Evergarden the Movie Remains at No. 3 This Week”
Violet Evergarden the Movie continues to do well in cinemas in Japan, staying at 3rd this week. While takings for the Kyoto Animation anime film have dropped off significantly, Violet Evergarden the Movie has still brought in 1.28 billion yen (US$12.1 million) since it was released on September 28, with 890,000 ticket sales. The official Twitter account for the franchise announced that starting October 16 – this Friday –, filmgoers will now receive a special 35mm clipping from the movie.

At 1.28 billion yen (US$12.1 million) in takings, Violet Evergarden the Movie remains the 3rd highest-grossing anime film from Kyoto Animation, behind Naoko Yamada's A Silent Voice and K-ON! the Movie. Kyoto Animation released the first 10 minutes of Violet Evergarden the Movie – the entire prologue of the film – on their YouTube channel last week, it can also be watched below.
Taichi Ishidate returned from the TV anime series to direct Violet Evergarden the Movie, the first production finished after the July 2019 arson attack against Kyoto Animation.
