#Kurayukaba, Kuramerukagari Movies Get Theme Song, Additional Cast Details

Theme song and additional cast details for the Kurayukaba and Kuramerukagari movies have been released ahead of their April 12 Japanese premiere.

Masayoshi Ooishi is performing the theme song for Kuramerukagari, “Bokura no Hakoniwa,” while Kurayukaba‘s theme song “Naisho no Uta” will be performed by Charan Po Rantan. The newly announced cast members, which are for Kuramerukagari, include:

• Yuuki Sakakihara as Yuya
• Takao Ootsuka as Iseya
• Yoshimasa Hosoya as Eiwa-jima
• Nanako Mori as Shiina
• Aoi Yuuki as Ameya

Kurayukaba and Kuramerukagari are both created, directed, and written by Shigeyoshi Tsukahara. The former is a “steam punk fantasy” with Taisho-inspired aesthetics that follows the detective Sotaro as he investigates mysterious mass disappearances. His search for clues takes him to the underbelly of the city, Kuragari. The film was the gold prize winner at the 27th Fantasia International Film Festival in the Best Animated Feature category. The opening 15 minutes were first released in 2021 after two crowdfunding campaigns.

Meanwhile, Kuramerukagari follows the cartographer Kagari and the boy Yuya, who dreams of leaving their labyrinthian city of Hakoniwa. The two of them, as well as the idiosyncratic Hakoniwa residents, find themselves confronting a plot that will shake the city.
